Johannes Brahms’ Ein deutches Requiem, 2024

Composed between 1865 and 1868, Brahms himself prepared a piano transcription of the orchestral parts of his monumental work, and this arrangement for four-hands piano allows a degree of intimacy, precision, and contrapuntal clarity not easily achieved in the more commonly heard full orchestration. This cathartic work highlights overarching themes of comfort to the bereaved and blessings of eternal peace for the departed.
